The Line of the Sun, which is otherwise called the Line of Success or the Line of Brilliancy (1-1, Plate XV.), is one of the most important marks on the hand to consider.

It has in its symbolism almost the same significance as the Sun itself has to the Earth.

Without this line the life has no happiness, no sunshine, as it were, and even the greatest talents lie in darkness and do not produce their fruit.

Amateurs, in looking at hands, often make the greatest mistakes in seeing what appears to be "a good Line of Fate," and in consequence rush off and predict great success and fortune, whereas, as I explained in the preceding chapter, a Fate Line unaccompanied by the Line of Sun may simply mean a fatalistic life full of sorrow and darkness.

The quality that the Line of Sun denotes is, what is generally called "luck"; with a well-marked Sun Line even a poor Line of Head promises more success, and it is the same with the Line of Fate.

People with the Sun Line appear to have more magnetism, more influence over others. They more easily secure recognition, reward, riches, and honours.

They also have a happier and brighter disposition, and this has naturally a great deal to do with what is called success.


When Sun line rises from the Mount of Luna it promises success and distinction. Largely dependent upon the fancies and the help of others.

With a sloppy line of Head, however, it is more inclined to denote success in poetry, literature and things of the purely imaginative order.

Sun Line rising from the line of Heart, it denotes a great taste for art and artistic things, and looking at it from the practical point of view it denotes more distinction and influence at late age in life.         

If the third finger be nearly equal in length to the second, the finger of Saturn, a very long line of Sun with such a formation makes the person inclined towards gamble with everything.

A star on the line of Sun indicates the person is exceptionally brilliant and the success will remain throughout the life.

A square on the line of Sun indicates preservation against the attacks of enemies.

The Line of Sun or Apollo
Normal position of the Line:
This is a vertical line in the hand, long or short.   If it is long, it starts from the upper part of the Mount of Moon and runs towards the Mount of Sun and generally terminates on the same Mount.  If it is short, it starts high on the hand and ends on the Mount of Sun.
General functions of the Line:
1. It is the Line of capability, expressive of he possible accomplishments in which the subject would excel.

Palmists generally relate the line of Apollo or Sun with creativity, fame, fortune, success and accomplishment. Thus, it is clear that those who possess the line of Apollo or Sun are more likely to have artistic talents, which will bring them tremendous success and fame. 

The Line of Sun is also known as the line of success or the line of Brilliance. It runs parallel to the Fate Line but ultimately it ends at the Mount of Sun. It is not present in every hand but whenever it is present, it gives happiness and achievements.

It indicates that the person is brilliant and he will prosper in life in any field of science(especially chemistry and medical science) and law. A triangle on mercury mount along with it indicates a higher creativity thereby writing a high quality novel, or other literary work.

A good sun line with a high mars mount indicates success and prosperity in the field of police, detective and military branch.
