In Malaysia, Toyota has launched Vios Model in Oct 2007. VIOS 1.5S, VIOS 1.5G and VIOS 1.5E are the 3 models first launched. Toyota has then made a second launch of VIOS 1.5J in July 2008. Few months after the first launch, there are so many Toyota Vios on the road throughout Malaysia. The stylish design, fuel savings and affordable price are the considering points for VIOS owners.
Supposedly, those who are owning VIOS should be enjoying the driving pleasures while the monthly repayments to financial are still running. But the grumbles and complaints from VIOS owners are heard recently. There are 3 cases i would like to share here. They bought their VIOS prior to the launch of VIOS 1.5J.
The Case 1, she likes the stylish design of Toyota Vios, finally bought a VIOS 1.5S in early 2008. The only reason she chose VIOS 1.5S, the interior color of "Dark Grey" which is almost the same as black. Why black ? She answered "I am willing to pay a few thousand extra to get a black interior as i have kids who are naughty enough to make interior and seats stained. VIOS 1.5G and VIOS 1.5E have beige color interior."
In July 2008, VIOS 1.5J was launched. Her colleague bought a VIOS 1.5J (AT), she felt surprise when noticing the interior of VIOS 1.5J (AT) is black. After knowing the price of J, she screamed "Oh my god! It costs me RM 15,000 for a black interior. Feelings black internally in VIOS 1.5J (AT) is like feelings black internally in VIOS 1.5S. I wouldn't choose VIOS 1.5S if VIOS 1.5J (AT) was available at the point i purchased."
Yes, she has lost RM 15,000.00 for a Black Interior
In a broad picture (without zooming in the other specs) :
Internally : VIOS 1.5J (AT) almost = VIOS 1.5S
Externally : VIOS 1.5J (AT), add Skirting, add Spoiler almost = VIOS 1.5S
Should we say VIOS 1.5J (Costs RM 73,525.00) has lowered VIOS 1.5S (88,325.00) standard ???
The Case 2, he bought VIOS 1.5E (RM 79,425.00) in Apr for a need of transport. What he needs, is just a vehicle to transport him from one destination to another, he doesn't care for extra specs. With the chosen VIOS 1.5E, which was the cheapest among VIOS 1.5S, VIOS 1.5G and VIOS 1.5E, he has no choice to take up the 2 tones interior, ie. "Dark Grey + Beige".
The TV Ads in July, promoting VIOS 1.5J, from RM 69,825.00 attracted his attention. He passed by Toyota Dealer and checked out the VIOS 1.5J, the new lowest specs, has a "Black Interior". He shouted to himself "What the hell! Why didn't Toyota offer 1.5J in the first place, so that it is fair to me to make a choice which model to buy and own."
Do you think would he buy VIOS 1.5E if he had been given a choice to buy VIOS 1.5J in the first place ?
The case 3, an office working girl had been to Honda and Toyota Showroom for Honda City and Toyota Vios prices and specs information. Honda has 2 model of Honda City, 1.5 i-DSI at RM 79,800.00 and 1.5 VTEC at RM 85,800.00. Comparing to Honda City VTEC at RM 85,800.00, she finally took up Toyota VIOS 1.5S at RM 88,325.00 three months ago as she think the newly launched model can at least last for another few years before turning old model. In other words, she presumed the deprecation of her VIOS would be minimised. "I am not going to buy Toyota anymore, i would reckon Honda for my next upgrade to Honda Civic or Accord in futures" she mumbled.
Do you think will second hand value of VIOS 1.5S, VIOS 1.5G and VIOS 1.5E get affected by VIOS 1.5J? If you intend to buy a second hand VIOS in 3 years down the road, would you choose VIOS 1.5J which has black interior (Feelings still clean) or VIOS 1.5E which has dotted stains (Feelings a bit stainy) ?
DO YOU OWN TOYOTA VIOS LATELY? DO YOU HAVE ANY SAY?
Some says on Paultan.org, a prestigious automobile website, for the launch of Toyota Vios 1.5J.

Imagine these :
ReplyDeleteIF one day, airline company comes out with a no meal and no excess baggage air ticket for Business Class Ticket at a 50% discounted price. A marketing strategy to fill up the empty seats of Business Class Ticket after 50% of Business Class Ticket were sold for an airplane. Do you think those tickets' owners would buy the air ticket for this particular airline if they know there will be such a marketing strategy.
IF one day LV produces a Monogram Canvas Handbag which has no compartment inside, and sells at 40% lower than normal Monogram Canvas Handbag. With the same outline and outlook, now one can own original LV Handbag with price 40% lower. What will be the reaction of LV lovers ? What will the reaction of those elegant mistresses ?
